Tuesday Tips

Well I couldnt think of much but then I was thinking of how much laundry I have to catch up on and how sometimes almost everyone has suborn stains that they cant get out and I saw some online that I found helpful.
Shrunken Sweaters
It may seem hopeless, but there is a tiny glimmer of a chance that you can still wear that sweater. It’s worth a try to attempt to reshape a wet sweater to its original size. Add 2-3 tablespoonfuls of hair conditioner to a bucket of room temperature water. Put the sweater in the bucket to soak for about 5 minutes. Lay the sweater on a clean dry towel and slowly and gently try to stretch the fibers and reshape the garment before allowing it to dry on the towel.

Dried Stains
Once a stain has been dried, it’s very hard to remove, but it is possible. Try repeating the steps for the individual stain. More than likely you’ll need to soak the stain, or use a more aggressive stain remover. On white clothes, try using lemon juice and placing the garment in the sun. Both the lemon juice and the sun will work as bleaching agents. Be sure to rinse the clothing thoroughly before rewashing.

Dingy Whites
White fabrics can become yellowed or grayed and dingy. For gray and dingy whites try the triple soak. Soak the whites first in a solution of a bucketful of water and 2 tablespoons of liquid dish soap. Next rinse out the whites and soak in a solution of 2 tablespoons of ammonia and a bucketful of water. Next, rinse out the whites, and soak in a bucket of warm water and 2 tablespoons of vinegar. Rinse thoroughly and dry. This soaking method will leave your whites bright and clean.

Wrinkled Clothes
If clothes have been neglected in the dryer for too long they are probably wrinkled. To smooth out the wrinkles, put the load back in the dryer with a damp towel (for a medium sized load) or a damp sock (for a small load).
If you have a dryer like mine I have a wrinkle free cycle :)

Pink Whites
A red sock in the washer with your whites can leave you seeing rose-colored laundry. To try to fix this problem you’ll need Rit Color Remover. This product works wonders on white laundry that had dye transfer on it. The Rit Color Remover can also be effective at removing dye on some colored or patterned backgrounds, although you run the risk of having the original color or pattern of the garment damaged.

Crayons in the Dryer
I’ve got quite a bit of experience with this one. I’ll never forget the first time I looked in the dryer to see streaks of red crayon melted around the drum. To get rid of it, start with scraping off as much of the wax as you can. I like using a credit card because it doesn’t scratch the drum, but does a good job of removing dried on wax. Depending on how tough the wax is to remove, you might need to use a blow dryer to remove the wax. Hold the dryer 6 inches away from the drum. It will heat up the wax, allowing you to wipe it away. Next, you’ll need some WD-40. Spray it on a cloth and wipe at the waxed areas until the wax is gone. For your final step, use a mild detergent like dish soap or an all-purpose cleaner and warm water to do a final wipe down of the drum.

Stickers Washed and Dried
Sometimes a “Good Job” sticker gets left on clothes as they go through the laundry cycle. A sticker that has been washed and dried, congeals and becomes very difficult to remove. Use an ice cube to freeze the stained area, and try to scrape away as much of the sticker as possible with a spoon. Apply baby or cooking oil to the sticker area and try to scrape away more of the stain as it loosens. Rinse the area thoroughly with a little dish soap and warm water before applying a stain remover gel and rewashing.

Mildew Smells or Stains
Did you forget about the clothes in the washer and now they have a sour smell? If the clothes smell, but aren’t stained by pinpoint sized dots of mildew, you may simply be able to rewash them with a helping of bleach for whites, or color-safe bleach for colors. If you indeed have mildew stains, washing with chlorine bleach will remove the stains from white clothing. For colored clothing use a mixture of color-safe oxygen bleach (1 teaspoon) , and hydrogen peroxide (1 cup) to sponge the stained areas before rinsing thoroughly and rewashing. Clothes may also benefit from soaking in a borax solution.

A Pen Explodes
If a pen found its way into your laundry, it can wreak a lot of havoc before it’s found. Whether you realize there are ink stains after clothes are washed, or after they are dried, the steps are the same.
The first solution to try is rubbing alcohol. Place the clothing on top of a clean white towel. Be sure to test in a hidden spot before applying rubbing alcohol to the permanent ink stain. Blot rubbing alcohol onto the stain. The towel underneath will become wet and discolored from the ink. Be sure to move the garment to a clean dry section of the towel as this happens. Continue until no more ink stain can be removed. Make sure you rinse the stained area completely free of the rubbing alcohol. Next try fingernail polish remover. Blot in the same way as you did with the rubbing alcohol, moving the stained area to a clean dry section of a towel as the ink stain is removed. Rinse thoroughly.
Honestly, this will work much more effectively if the clothes haven’t been dried, but it can still work on set in stains, it will just take a lot of hoping and patience.

Washed Tissues
If a tissue has been inadvertently washed, leaving shreds of tissue all over your clothing, the easiest solution is to pick out the biggest clumps you can see before putting the clothing in the dryer. The smaller clumps will get caught in the lint filter where you can remove them after the drying cycle. The more clumps you can remove before the clothing goes into the dryer, the better. Once the clothing is dry, shake out the garments to remove any loose pieces.

Gasoline On Clothing
Gasoline is an oil based product, therefore, use another oil based product to pull out the odor (which is left because all the gas oil has not been removed yet). You can use any kind of oil that normally washes out of clothing, like baby oil. Put some of the oil into the washer along with the clothes, let it swish around for a while, then put in the detergent and all should come out okay. Be sure not to use a dryer to dry these clothes, as it could cause a fire.

Grease Stains
Sprinkle a generous amount of cornstarch or baby powder over the grease stain, allow it to sit for a couple of minutes, then brush the powder off. The powder absorbs the grease and it brushes off with the powder.

Gum On Clothing
Use egg whites to remove gum on clothing. Brush egg white onto gum with a toothbrush. Let sit for 15 minutes and then launder on the items normally.

Lipstick
Use petroleum jelly for removing lipstick stains. Another possibility is to rub in a little vegetable shortening and then launder as normal.

Spaghetti Stains
Wet the fabric and then sprinkle with powdered dish detergent. Scrub gently with a toothbrush. Rinse the item and launder normally.

Zippers: To make a zipper slide up and down more smoothly, rub a bar of soap over the teeth.

Dryer Tip: Include a few tennis balls in each dryer cycle. The tennis balls not only cut drying time by 25% - 50%, but also fluff the clothes to a delicate softness, and towels with be especially fluffy.

Hope these are helpful. Lately I've been finding tissues in my dryer lol. ;)

Santas Prayer

The sleigh was all packed,
the reindeer were fed,
But Santa still knelt by the side of the bed.
"Dear Father," he prayed
"Be with me tonight. There's much work to do and my schedule is tight.

I must jump in my sleigh
and streak through the sky,
Knowing full well that a reindeer can't fly.
I will visit each household before the first light,
I'll cover the world and all in one night.
With sleigh bells a-ringing,
I'll land on each roof,
Amid the soft clatter of each little hoof.

To get in the house is the difficult part,
So I'll slide down the chimney of each child's heart.
My sack will hold toys to grant all their wishes.
The supply will be endless like the loaves and the fishes.
I will fill all the stockings and not leave a track.
I'll eat every cookie that is left for my snack.
I will fill all the stockings and not leave a track.
I'll eat every cookie that is left for my snack.
I can do all these things Lord,
only through You,I just need your blessing,
then it's easy to do.

All this is to honor the birth of the One,
That was sent to redeem us, Your most Holy Son.
So to all of my friends, least Your glory I rob,
Please Lord, remind them who gave me this job."

Tuesday Tips

Another Tuesdays Tips. Well since there is only 15 days till CHRISTmas I figured some sesasonal tips.
1. Try to get your christmas shopping done through out the year this way it takes the pressure off of you doing it last minute and less stressful for the heavy crowds in stores.
2. Put up decorations up early when the weather is nice that way you dont freeze when the cold weather comes in and you take your time putting everything up the way u want it.
4. Send out christmas cards the day after Thanksgiving so that everyone gets it by christmas. :)
5. Get out all your christmas stuff and go through it to see what you are going to be putting out and what you are going to keep tucked away. That way you can plan out how and where your going to put everything when you decorate in your home.
6. Make sure you keep track of all the christmas specials on tv if your like me and my family they love to watch all the shows (elf, a charlie brown christmas, Polar express, ect)
Thats all I can think of at the moment. :) Enjoy lol.

Movie Monday :)

The Movie that I choose is:

"A Charlie Brown Christmas"

One of my most favorite Movies :)

Its is a story about what christmas is really about and how it should be.

Lovable schlemiel Charlie Brown searches for Christmas' true meaning in this animated holiday classic. Charlie directs a Christmas pageant, buys a stunted tree and learns that the yuletide means more than just presents and tinsel. All of Charles Schulz's familiar "Peanuts" characters are here -- from Snoopy and Lucy to Schroeder, Linus and Pig-Pen.

"Light's Please"

Luke 2:8-14

And there were in the same

country shepherds abiding in the field,

keeping watch over their flock by night.

And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon

them, and the glory of the Lord shone round

about them; and they were sore afraid.

And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for,

behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy

which shall be to all people.

For unto you is born this day in the city of

David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall

find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes,

lying in a manger.

And suddenly there was with the angel a

multitude of the heavenly host praising God,

and Saying,

Glory to God in the highest,

and on earth peace,

good will toward men."

DEFINITELY A MUST SEE HOLIDAY SHOW!

Tuesday Tips

Its cold outside and people are thinking of how much fun the snow is going to be the white snow flakes quietly falling to gods earth. Making snow angels :) ect. Here are some tips.

Snowman:

Step1Test to see if you have 'packing snow,' which clumps together easily and isn't too wet. The snow must pack to make a snowman.

Step2Shape a handful of snow into a ball. Continue adding more snow and packing the ball until it's too large to hold.

Step3Place the ball on the snow in front of you and slowly roll it away from you. As more snow accumulates on the outside of your ball, pack the snow by pressing on it with your gloved hands.

Step4Roll and pack the ball over and over until it is the size you want for the bottom of the snowman's body. Repeat for the midsection and head. The bottom should be the biggest ball, and the top should be the smallest.

Step6Pack some extra snow between the layers to make them stick together. Place sticks down the center where the sections meet if your snowman is having trouble standing erect.

Step7Give the snowman a face. Use coal, rocks, buttons or anything dark and round for the eyes. A horizontal stick or twig will make a good mouth, and a carrot is fine for the pointy nose. If you don't have a carrot, a banana or a candy cane will do the job.

Step8Cover the top of his head with an old plant for hair, or give him a knit hat to wear. Top hats will blow away unless secured.

Step9Add arms, legs and other accessories. Push sticks into the sides of the middle section and hang old mittens on the ends, then place boots at the bottom for legs. Also consider adding items such as a shirt, a scarf or sunglasses.

Hope it was helpful lol I know everyone knows how to build a snowman but some things are interesting lol :)

Movie Monday

For my movie Monday I am going to do "Ice Princess."
Brainy Casey has never quite fit in. Caught between her fantasy of becoming a championship figure skater and her strong-willed mother , who has her on the fast track to Harvard, she can only hope to be like Nikki, Tiffany and Gen - three elite skating prodigies who are ruthlessly competing on the US National circuit (and have attitudes to match). But when Casey gets the chance to train with Gen and her coach, a disgraced former skating champion who also happens to be Gen's mother , she must dash her own mother's hopes in order to pursue her dream. Now, with only the support of Gen's teenage brother, a hunky Zamboni driver, Casey takes on the challenge of her life when she finds herself competing against the best to make it into the championship circuit and become a real "ice princess." I love this movie.

Tuesday Tips

Found some good tips. Its almost time for the snow so lets be ready! :)
Driving:
The best advice for driving in bad winter weather is not to drive at all, if you can avoid it.
Don't go out until the snow plows and sanding trucks have had a chance to do their work, and allow yourself extra time to reach your destination.
If you must drive in snowy conditions, make sure your car is prepared, and that you know how to handle road conditions.
It's helpful to practice winter driving techniques in a snowy, open parking lot, so you're familiar with how your car handles. Consult your owner's manual for tips specific to your vehicle.
Driving safely on icy roads
Decrease your speed and leave yourself plenty of room to stop. You should allow at least three times more space than usual between you and the car in front of you.
Brake gently to avoid skidding. If your wheels start to lock up, ease off the brake.
Turn on your lights to increase your visibility to other motorists.
Keep your lights and windshield clean.
Use low gears to keep traction, especially on hills.
Don't use cruise control or overdrive on icy roads.
Be especially careful on bridges, overpasses and infrequently traveled roads, which will freeze first. Even at temperatures above freezing, if the conditions are wet, you might encounter ice in shady areas or on exposed roadways like bridges.
Don't pass snow plows and sanding trucks. The drivers have limited visibility, and you're likely to find the road in front of them worse than the road behind.
Don't assume your vehicle can handle all conditions. Even four-wheel and front-wheel drive vehicles can encounter trouble on winter roads.
If your rear wheels skid...

Take your foot off the accelerator.
Steer in the direction you want the front wheels to go. If your rear wheels are sliding left, steer left. If they're sliding right, steer right.
If your rear wheels start sliding the other way as you recover, ease the steering wheel toward that side. You might have to steer left and right a few times to get your vehicle completely under control.
If you have standard brakes, pump them gently.
If you have anti-lock brakes (ABS), do not pump the brakes. Apply steady pressure to the brakes. You will feel the brakes pulse — this is normal.
If your front wheels skid...

Take your foot off the gas and shift to neutral, but don't try to steer immediately.
As the wheels skid sideways, they will slow the vehicle and traction will return. As it does, steer in the direction you want to go. Then put the transmission in "drive" or release the clutch, and accelerate gently.
If you get stuck...

Do not spin your wheels. This will only dig you in deeper.
Turn your wheels from side to side a few times to push snow out of the way.
Use a light touch on the gas, to ease your car out.
Use a shovel to clear snow away from the wheels and the underside of the car.
Pour sand, kitty litter, gravel or salt in the path of the wheels, to help get traction.
Try rocking the vehicle. (Check your owner's manual first — it can damage the transmission on some vehicles.) Shift from forward to reverse, and back again. Each time you're in gear, give a light touch on the gas until the vehicle gets going.
Essential SuppliesBe prepared with a "survival kit" that should always remain in the car. Replenish after use. Essential supplies include:

Working flashlight and extra batteries
Reflective triangles and brightly-colored cloth
Compass
First aid kit
Exterior windshield cleaner
Ice scraper and snow brush
Wooden stick matches in a waterproof container
Scissors and string/cord
Non-perishable, high-energy foods like unsalted canned nuts, dried fruits, and hard candy.
Safe driving this snowy season! :)

Today is my 1st Thanksgiving that I am making. :)

I was a little nervous having to worry about what to make or how to make it that its actually going pretty good.
The turkey is all nice and brown, The mashed potatoes are cheesy, garlicly and creamy to the taste, and the rest is left to be opened when Dave and the kids come home from his Pops house from their Thanksgiving. I was so excited about this Thanksgiving then when he left this morning I keep thinking to myself I should be there with him.......but then another part of me says..I wish he would have just stayed here since it was our first thanksgiving together. I dont know. I am enjoying myself with being able to do this all by myself dont know if that sounds weird. Miss my babies right now.

Twas the night before Thanksgiving:
'Twas the night of Thanksgiving, but I just couldn't sleep... I tried counting backwards, I tried counting sheep. The leftovers beckoned...the dark meat and white, but I fought the temptation with all of my might. Tossing and turning with anticipation, the thought of a snack became infatuation. So, I raced to the kitchen, flung open the door and gazed at the fridge, full of goodies galore. I gobbled up turkey and buttered potatoes, stuffing with gravy, green beans and tomatoes. I felt myself swelling so plump and so round, till all of a sudden, I rose off the ground. I crashed through the ceiling, floating into the sky with a mouthful of pudding and a handful of pie But, I managed to yell as I soared past the trees... Happy eating to all -- pass the cranberries, please.
Hope you enjoyed :)
